So even with very little notice, we had quite a few people show up for our barbecue on Friday :) It's pretty funny actually, because people who came said it was specifically for my legendary spreads haha! My goofy friend John came too, and he once again failed to eat ANYTHING (the guy needs to quit with the Ethiopian diet!), though he had a strange fascination with putting a roasted corn in his pocket :P

Our old friend Jeff came by as well, and he brought his fancypants camera gear, saying he was looking for work. So, the guys from Deadnight were there who needed press photos, so we had him run around with the guys doing that. Some looked really cool initially, so I hope they turn out :)

We had the party in the courtyard, which was simply awesome. All the hipsters, emo kids and yuppies in our building were constantly peering out their blinds and making more errands than normal, just to get an eyeful of the people we invited over. To be honest, I don't know if I would have wanted more people than we had, because it might have gotten out of hand ;) So yeah, it worked out well.

John stayed over, and on Saturday morning, he went with us for the opening for the Bristol Ren Faire. He had never been to one before, and Bristol is one of the best in the country, so we simply had to take him along! :) It was funny too, because he served as a wonderful buffer from all the "Up In Your Face" people who you wish would leave you alone ;) Hey - you know the type I'm talking about - the ones who feel the need to point out flaws in your costume with the obviously fake accents, or who feel like they are entitled to mess with the "normies" wearing street clothes. With him opening his mouth, they totally backed off, because he definitely scared and/or offended them >:) The fact that he referred to the drinking horn he bought as his cod piece was funny enough, and frightened the bar wenches, too! LOL!

"Hey Ladies! Fill (feel) up my cod piece!"

I think that should be on a Mastercard commercial:

- Gas: $20
- Ticket to Ren Faire: $15
- Garlic mushrooms that I dream about: $4.50
- Bringing an unPC/Alcoholic/Loud-mouthed weirdo: Priceless

I was a little disappointed though, because I could tell the gas prices were taking a toll. A lot less vendors than before, and the ones who were there were more pushy than usual. I specifically wanted a new corset, and even though I wasn't seeing what I wanted, these vendors were pushing me into what they had available. Uhhh, no. I am not buying what I don't 100% love, so back off! That, and I really felt sorry for the animals there - the ponies going around in circles looked so sad :( I wish they'd stop featuring animals, at least as rides!!! (It's part of the reason I hadn't gone in the last few years.)

That night, we went to see Deadnight play at a mini fest, and it seemed like the entire regular crowd was present. The guys played REALLY good to where they got a "Wow!" out of me. Believe me, that is really rare, because at this point, I'm so cynical and jaded anymore, and it had NOTHING to do with the guys being on our label! Their new drummer is nothing short of stellar - he kept beating himself in the head while playing, which was pretty funny hehe. Jeremy looks A LOT like Steve Buscemi, and definitely works with the whole psychotic weirdo image haha! In fact, the other guys keep calling him Mr. Pink! LOL!!!!! That, and I happen to have a strange fascination with that guy, not unlike the one I have for Nicholas Cage, so uhhh... yeah. haha!

While we were there, people had us start to plan for Ron's birthday party in October. I immediately thought of our friend Aaron who owns Horan's Snug in Forest Park, since it's very accessible for everyone, be it driving or public trans, and it's right smack dab in the middle of everyone in the Chicago area. So yes, Ron's birthday party: October 18th, probably starting around 8pm, at Horan's Snug in Forest Park. I will see about letting one of our bands play there!

Yesterday was spent lounging and sleeping. We are sooo worn out! Ron's calling in today, because he was up all night with the Pepto Bismol, probably from eating leftover barbecue throughout the day LOL. He called in for me as well, since Andy never did say what my schedule was. That's fine by me, because I need to clean up around here before Pedro comes over - this place is a pig sty, once again!

I got the hotel booked, the SUV reserved (hey - we genuinely need the space, and it was the cheapest large rental!!!) and we're getting all our stuff together. I'm really looking forward to going this year, as there are quite a few great bands playing. I heard this year's show will have people coming from as far away as friggin Japan for this, so I already know this is going to be something special. There are also going to be CIM shirts this year, so Ron will be buying one right away, because I'm sure they'll be gone almost immediately. He chipped in to get our logo on them, so definitely a keeper for us ;)

See yas there!
http://www.myspace.com/centralillinoismetalfest

So how have I been celebrating Beltaine? Well, let's see:

- Hooked up with ole boy Shatner to score super cheap hotel rooms for us and the guys from WHORRID for Mayhem in May down in Louisville. $30/night at an Extended Stay. I just love those places when it comes to doing shows, and you can't beat the price with a stick!

- Got the car tuned up and in perfect working order again.

- Started going through my camping shit for Paganstock. I can already tell I need to buy a few more new "foux foux" items, for one day, I WILL amass the ultimate covenstead! By Godz I swear it! This year's To Buy list includes the camping margarita mixer and unbreakable glasses. Oh and just to be a complete ass, I believe some parasols for dem drinks are in order! (What? My drinks need shade from the sun, too, ya know!) Of course, I'm not going to be happy until I have my own "camping jacuzzi", which is an inflatable kiddie pool to slosh around and veg out in, with those aforementioned margaritas, of course.

- Got some flower-themed articles written for PlanJam written, mostly for Mother's Day type stuff. I'm not all that fond of the holiday myself, but I'm fairly certain it is a big deal for 99.9% of the US population, so there ya go.

- Got in the new BABY.STAB.HORROR release, In The Name of Satan, and have fulfilled all the back orders. I have a lot of folks who want to set up an initial trade that I need to get back to, and some of which are already wanting restock the DEADNIGHT debut. Damn!

- And of course, I put in my super hard, strenuous long day at the office. :P~~~~~~~~~~ I still can't believe how easy my job is there. I guess when you go from the black abyss (Adler) to Eden (Shine On), most folks would tend to agree my job is pretty damn easy. Even the people who actually do the window washing don't have a hard job for the most part, except when the weather doesn't want to cooperate.

What's funny is I actually came across one of our guys on Flickr. Ron doesn't get up on the buildings himself anymore, but I'm willing to bet there's pictures of him floating around someplace, too.

Anyway, that's how I spent my Beltaine. How's yours?

I just had to say that! The CD release party we had there last night went over so incredibly well, and the people who work there are the absolute nicest people ever! They fed and watered us for free, took care of our guys and really did a lot of promotion for us. Quite frankly, I'm not used to being treated so well :)

Oh, and in regards to exactly what was in the Deadnight burger - wow! It was a mess on a hot platter that suited the carnivores well. Ron took a picture of it - I need to pull it off the camera - NOT for veggies though!! Pulled barbecued pork, jalapenos and melted cheese, topping hand-cut fries and a hamburger patty. There's probably some other stuff in there too, but I can't remember it all.

Why the hell did they have to fire 18 rounds at a scared animal and gun it down? Why didn't animal control use tranquilizers? People have bullet holes in their air conditioners, in a busy neighborhood, with lots of kids 9and near me!) where anyone could have been hurt?

This just goes to show just how incompetent the Chicago Police are! Every unit should have a small tranquilizer kit in their cruisers and KNOW HOW TO USE THEM, y'know, for other large animals, like loose dogs, deer and even that coyote that went inside the downtown Quizno's last year. Stupid, fat idiots! If anything else, we lost an invaluable opportunity to catch, tag and release the cat back where it probably traveled from and learn from its behavior.

When I saw its body on the news, lying on the cold cement, it just made me so terribly sad and angry at the same time. Looks like Daley has yet another black eye to deal with when it comes to his police force.

<lj-embed id="12" />
You can see the poor thing RUNNING AWAY and HIDING! International trades are sent via First Class International mail, without cases but packaged very securely!

International traders please note:
We do not use registered mail, because it is not cost efficient on our end; only customs declarations are used. However, we will personally guarantee our trade will arrive to you quickly and securely!

Packing Instructions:
We really hate to do this, but lately, we have gotten some pretty bad packaging coming our way, so we need to ask you please separate each disk with a piece of paper or use a CD envelope like we do. Disks touching each other and disks with plastic wrap on them always get scratched/sticky/water marked, and our customers are starting to complain.

Also, please do not have the booklets and tray cards loose - use a firm backing, like cardboard. We are starting to see a lot of trades coming in bent up on the corners, and in one case, torn. And one more thing: please remember to count what you are sending us before packing; we're starting to see a big increase in mix-ups, like extra booklets, disks and tray cards, or shorting us in these items altogether.

Be aware of rip off artists!
Check out http://www.metalripoff.info for all the updates!
